MFA Image Making: The Books

Around Christmas time my work took a sharp turn, notably selecting a new form to present my image transfers. In working with narratives, I decided to try to transfer my images into Welsh books, hoping to insert myself into the Welsh cultural narrative in some desperate way. The final form is close to being conceived, though I struggle with the language.

What am I trying to say? What will English speakers like me think of the work? Will they feel a similar desire to be included in a culture not their own? What will the Welsh speakers think of my work? Will they find it beautiful, or am I just vandalising their beautiful poetry? My last intention is to be offensive, but to present a process which expresses my fantasy of Welsh landscape and ancient history.
